Euchre
Objective
The object of Euchre is to be the first team to score 10 points.
Players
There are 4 players total with 2 players on each team. Players are seated alternately.
Cards
The ace (A), king (K), queen (Q), jack (J), ten (10), and nine (9) of each suit are used.
Dealing
Each player is dealt 5 cards.
The remaining cards are placed in a pile and the top card is turned up.
Trump
The eldest player (left of the dealer) may pass or accept the top card suit as the trump suit.
If the player passes, the next player may pass or accept the top card suit as the trump suit.
If the player accepts, the player has the option to play alone, the dealer takes the top card and discards any card to the pile, then play begins with the accepted suit as the trump suit.
If no player accepts, the top card is turned down and the eldest player may pass or call any remaining suit as the trump suit.
If the player passes, the next player may pass or call any remaining suit as the trump suit.
If the player calls, the player has the option to play alone, then play begins with the called suit as the trump suit.
If no player calls, the eldest player becomes the dealer and the cards are shuffled and dealt again.
Alone
After a trump suit is accepted or called, the player who accepted or called the trump suit has the option to play alone. The player may opt to play alone to win more points by winning all the tricks.
Playing
After the option to play alone (or the dealer discards to the pile), the eldest player begins play and may play any card. The suit of this card is the led suit.
The next player must follow with a card of the led suit. If the player does not have a card of the led suit, the player may play any card.
Winning
The player with the highest card wins the trick and begins the next trick.
The team with the most tricks scores points.
The first team to score 10 points wins the game.
